Travelling during the holidays often means facing closed doors when it comes to finding a festive meal. Flavors of Paris has done some legwork to suss out some restaurants that are open on Christmas Eve and ready to cook up something good for you and your family. From upscale tasting menus to the newest street food favourites, we have you covered.


Reign in the holidays with this ultra-modern, elegant, and upscale dining experience at Restaurant Trace. Enjoy “artfully plated dishes” and choose between a classic dining experience or a tasting menu with an additional wine pairing. Or enjoy the evening at their wine cellar: “An intimate and convivial setting, where small groups can enjoy a custom-made menu and a choice of à la carte wines.”

This long-standing restaurant offers French specialties. With mirrored walls, high ceilings, and an open layout, Bouillon Chartier is an excellent option for a family gathering. Enjoy their duck confit with baby potatoes or their veal with gribiche sauce. (Gribiche sauce has a strong caper flavour and is made with egg, mustard, chives, tarragon, and French parsley.) End your meal with something sweet: chestnut puree with whipped cream or prunes in wine with vanilla ice cream.

Canard Street, translated to Duck Street in English, offers a wide array of duck specialties: grilled duck leg confit, homemade duck parmentier, duck burger (breast or confit), and duck street salad. Or how about a hearty steak and crispy French fries paired with a side salad? All with a side of a Canadian specialty: poutine. Try this elegant food in a casual dining setting this holiday season.

Located in the second arrondissement, Le Minet Galant offers a traditional French menu in a traditional French ambiance with tables closely placed, mirrored walls, and tall windows, all with to-die-for dishes: crispy prawns, oyster tartare, or beef fillet heart. Try their salted caramel and Nutella waffle or a “floating island” with Tahitian vanilla custard and toasted almonds for something sweet.

This restaurant is famous for its hearty and traditional French Cuisine, focusing on Pork dishes. With a bright red interior in central Paris near the Les Halles metro station, Au Pied de Cochon is known for its Pig’s Trotter (pigs feet), a signature dish either grilled, stuffed, or in a terrine. Try the Normandy beef tartare, pig's trotter cassoulet, and their specialty: pan-fried calf's liver with parsley. And you cannot leave without trying their French onion soup, as Au Pied De Cochon claims to be the originators of the cheesy topping! And if that isn’t reason enough, we can declare that is is a personal favourite of our Founder, Lisa Rankin. End your meal with frozen nougat and salted caramel rice pudding.

Enjoy a traditional French dinner with escargot and ratatouille at this gorgeous and sophisticated French restaurant. With sombre lighting, wooden floors, and an artful interior, this spot is perfect for a cozy dinner with your family. Their lamb and Chakchouka, with Tunisian and Moroccan origin, Chakchouka is a poached egg dish with tomato sauce, grilled onions and peppers, seasoned with cayenne, and paprika. Louise Cafe has been quoted as “to die for” by frequent visitors of the establishment. Cozy up in the 15th arrondissement this Christmas Eve at Louise Cafe.

Across the street from Place des Victoires, visit this vintage mirrored bistro serving all the French delicacies in a lively atmosphere. Their house specialty is the grilled entrecôte with burnt thyme from the Garrigue, a plant community in Mediterranean forests. For something more classic, try their plats du jour, such as blanquette de veau, a veal dish in a rich and creamy sauce. There are no menus, and no reservations here, so make sure to arrive early.

Located in the first arrondissement, this classic Vietnamese spot is always packed with people and steaming hot, flavourful dishes flowing out of the kitchen. Com is known for its steaming hot pho, chewy noodles, and spring rolls, so make sure to order each for a delicious dining experience.

Open Christmas Day


A new French and Japanese fusion restaurant, Sphere, offers customers a dimly lit and modern ambiance with cozy cushion seating. Chef, Tetsuya YOSHIDA, is cooking up something good this Christmas with Carte Blanche menus ranging from four to eight courses. Smoked yellowtail on hay, Roscoff onion stuffed with potatoes and black truffles, to top it off try their Ecuadorian chocolate or fresh citrus marmalade.

Located in the Haussmann Saint Lazare district, 99 Hausman is known for the richness of gastronomy and seasonality. Decorated beautifully for the holiday season with red and white interior and lights dangling above. This Christmas they are offering pan fried duck foie gras, Norway lobster, yellow pollack with granny smith apples and a champagne sauce. End with a sweet treat: a chocolate and orange flavoured with rum nougat cloud.

Paillettes, mixes Israeli, Mediterranean and Lebanese cuisines to bring to life a delicious meal. With Mezze to start: Falafel with pickles, yogurt and fresh herbs, Cauliflower fritters with charcoal smoke peppers, duck foie gras, with date and pistachio chutney. For your entree, how about lamb with a cauliflower cream, veal shawarma, or glazed octopus with eggplant.     To Restaurant Paris

    Located in La Republique district, try this French bistronomic restaurant with a Japanese influence. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, exceptional service, and courses ranging from four, six up to eight, get a taste of everything offered. Chef Ryo Miyazaki uses a special Japanese technique to preserve the freshness of the food called Ikejime, a slaughtering technique in which the fish is killed instantly to preserve and enhance the flavours. Enjoy your meal with a wine pairing; from fine wines to classics. As well as sakes, whiskeys, and gins.

    Located in the 17th Arrondissement, the Moroccan inspired restaurant has a casual yet elegant ambiance. Manager, Fouzia, says, “Gastronomy is the art of using food to create happiness.” The art of Moroccan cuisine sets off on a timeless gastronomic adventure, where the authenticity of Moroccan cuisine can be enjoyed at any time of day. Savor exquisite flavors from lunch to midnight for an uninterrupted gustatory journey.” Try a North African specialty, tajine: with beef, carrots, and couscous, or their lamb mouse confit with a sweet seasoning of honey, almonds and raisins.

    L’Empire du 8ème

    Known as a Charming Neighborhood Gem, L’Empire du 8eme, offers a fine and romantic dining experience. To start you can have your pick of a lobster ravioli with tarragon bisque, creamy pumpkin soup, or fried frog legs with parsley, and tartar sauce. For a main course enjoy their beef tenderloin with roasted pumpkin, Tomahawk steak with a pepper sauce, sea bass fillet with parsnip and salsify, and a garlic confit. End off your Christmas Day dinner with a trio of cheese, Breton shortbread, with a vanilla poached pear or a mango cheesecake.
